Bir reversibl M AO-A inhibitörü olan moklobemidin antidepresan etkinliği ve tolerabilitesi, DSM.III tanı ölçülerine göre major depresif epizod tanısı alan, Hamilton Depresyonu Derecelendirme ölçeği (HDDÖ) puanı 16 ve üzerinde olan 19 yatan hastada dört haftalık açık bir çalışma dizaynıyla araştırıldı. Çalışma sonunda HDDÖ ortalama puanlarında istatistiksel düzeyde anlamlı düşüş saptandı. HDDÖ puanlarının 10 hastada (% 52.63) başlangıç düzeyinin yarısından fazla düştüğü görüldü. Moklobemidin yan etkilerinin çok az ve geçici olduğu ve klasik M AO inhıbitörierine özgün yan etkileri sergilemediği saptandı.

The effectiveness and the tolerence of moclobemde -one of the reversible inhibitors of MAO-A were assessed in an open clinical trial on 19 inpatients with major depression according to DSM.III and with a score of 16 or more on Hamilton Rating Scale of Depression (HRSD). As a result, a statistically significant decrease at HRSD scores was observed. The scores of 10 patients (%52.63) on HRSD were decreased more than half of the initial scores. The adverse effects of moclobemide were negligible and transient and were not similar to the adverse effects of the old MAOI's.
