Premenstrual disforik bozukluk ile major depresyon arasında birçok benzerlik olduğu bilinmektedir. Her iki bozukluğun tedavisi içinde serotonerjik antidepresanlar kullanılmaktadır. Tianeptin, bilinen diğer antidepresanlardan farklı olarak sinaptik aralıkta serotonin alınımı artırmaktadır. Biz bu çalışmamızda, PDB tedavisinde tek-kör, randomize, plesebo kontrollü olarak tianeptini denedik. PBD tanısı, kişilerin 2 menstrual siklus boyunca kendilerinin puanladığı formlarla kondu. Tianeptin alan 11 kadından 7'si tedaviye cevap verirken, plasebo alan 7 kadından sadece 2'si tedaviye cevap verdi. Bu sonuçlar, tianeptinin PDB tedavisinde etkili olduğunu ve iyi tolere edilebildiğini göstermektedir.

It is known that there are many smilarities between premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PDD) and major depression. The serotonergic antidepresants are being used in the treatment of these two disorders. Tianeptine is an antidepressant which differs from conventional antidepressants by it's unique property of increasing seratonin uptake in the synaptic cleft. In this study we conducted single-blind, randomized, plecebo-controlled trial of tianeptine in the treatment of PDD. The diagnosis of PDD was based on daily, prospective self-rating forms that subjects completed over two menstrual cycles. Eight of the 11 subjects receiving tianeptine responded to treatment, whereas only 2 of the 7 receiving placebo did. These suggest that tianeptine is an effective and well tolerated treatment for PDD.
