23 Parkinson hastalığı (PH) olan olgu ve 28 normal kontrolde motor korteksin manyetik stimulasyonunun basit ve seçmeli reaksiyon zamanlan (B-RZ ve S-RZ) üzerine etkisini araştırdık. B-RZ'nde denekler görsel başla sinyaline cevap olarak hızla sağ el bileklerinden ekstansiyon yaptılar. S-RZ'nda iki farklı görsel uyarandan uygun olanı seçerek ona reaksiyon gösterdiler. Daha sonra, B-RZ ve S-RZ sırasında başla sinyali'nden 76 ms sonra, sol motor korteks üzerine transkraniyal manyetik stimulasyon (TMU) uygulandı. Motor korteksin uyarılması için stimülatörün maksimum çıkış şiddeti (1.5Tesla) kullanıldı. Kontrollerle karşılaştırıldığında hastalarda B-RZ'nde uzma vardı. S-RZ'nde ise gruplar arasındaki istatistiksel farklılık yoktu. Kontrollerde, TMU; S-RZ'nı etkilemeksizin B-RZ'nı uzatırken, PH'nda, TMU; B-RZ ve S-RZ'nı etkilemedi.

We studied the effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) of motor cortex on simple and choice reaction time (SRT and CRT) in 23 patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and 28 age matched normal controls. In SRT trials, the subjects extended their right wrist rapidly in response to a visual "go" signal. In CRT trial, there were two different visual stimuli and the subjects selected the appropriate one and reacted to it. Then TMS was applied to the left motor cortex at 76 ms delay after the "go" signal during SRT and CRT trials. The stimulator's maximal output intensity (1.5 Tesla) was used for stimulating of motor cortex. SRT was prolonged in patients compared to the controls and CRT was not statstically different between the groups. While SRT and CRT were not affected by TMS in PD patients, TMS have made SRT prolonged in controls without affecting CRT.
