Haloperidolün klinik yan etkilerinin araştırılması amacıyla, şizofreniform bozukluk tanısı alan 21 olguya 1 hafta süreyleplesabo, 4 hafta süreyle haloperidol tedavisi uygulanmıştır. Olgular plasebo döneminin 5., tedavi döneminin 1, 3, 5. 7, 9, 14,21 ve 28 nci günlerinde Chouinard'ın Ekstrapiramidal Sistem Semptom Derecelendirme Ölçeği (ESDÖ) ve kliniğimizce geliştirilen Genel Yan Etki Derecelendirme Anketi ile değerlendirilmiştir.Ekstrapiramidal Sistem (EPS) yan etkileri olgulann % 90 ında saptanırken; tedavinin 2 nci haftasından sonra parkinsonizme karşı tolerans gelişme eğilimi görülmüştür. Sedasyon, ağız kuruluğu, çarpıntı gibi vejetatif yan etkiler daha az sıklık ve şiddette ve tedavinin ilk haftası içinde ortaya çıkarken; sıkıntı huzursuzluk, apati, yorgunluk, uyku bozukluğu gibi yan etkiler ise tedavinin ilerleyen haftaları içinde, artan sıklık ve şiddette görülmüştür.

21 Subjects diagnosed as schizophreniform disorder were given p lacebo for one week, then treated with haloperidol for 4 weeks with the purpose o f investigating the clinical side effects o f haloperidol. Subjects were assessed with Chauinard's Extrapyramidal Symptoms Rating Scale and scale for general side effects quaastionnaire developed in our clinic on the 5th day of placebo and on the 1st, 3rd. 5th, 7th, 9th, 14th, 21st and 28th days o f treatment. Extrapyramidal system (EPS) side effects were found in 90% o f subjects while a tolerance tendency to parkinsonism was observed after the second week o f treatment. Symptoms like sedation, dry mouth, palpitation were occasionally seen during the first week o f the treatment while further treatment seemed to cause anxiety, restlessness, apathy, fatigue, and sleep disturbances.
